Abstract
We are once again invited by John Rawls to see political philosophy in a new light. In A Theory of Justice (published in 1971) he offered a well-developed conception of social justice and a rational strategy for appraising principles. By offering cogent justifications for various aspects of his theory, he confirmed our capacity to reason about issues of political morality. His new book more than supplements that earlier work. Rawls further articulates some aspects of his political philosophy but modifies others significantly.
