Abstract
The criminal legal system is upheld by an agreement that certain principles are always at play. Chief among them is an agreement to follow the Rules of Professional Conduct as articulated in Supreme Judicial Court Rule 3:07. These rules are more than formalities; they are bedrock standards of conduct and a reflection of the morals and values of all actors in the system. The blatant disregard for those rules in the Boston Municipal Court is deeply concerning.
