Abstract
Chemical accidents at industrial facilities plague modern society despite the intensification of corporate safety efforts and government regulation following the 1984 Bhopal tragedy. These accidents, which range from minor spills to major explosions and releases of toxic chemicals, contaminate natural resources, disrupt communities, and frequently destroy the lives of workers and community residents. They also destroy corporate property and impair productivity.
