About This Journal
Mission Statement
The Boston University Law Review is an independent student-run journal, formed to provide the profession, the academy, and the general public with high-quality scholarship on all areas of law.
We strive to publish insightful, well-founded, and thorough research with the understanding that our work serves the public interest. Among other objectives, strong legal scholarship promotes the ethical practice of law, calls attention to inefficiency and injustice in the legal system, and proposes solutions to both novel and enduring societal challenges. We seek to spark robust, healthy, and constructive discourse by providing a platform for outstanding work by established and emerging scholars of all backgrounds.
The Boston University Law Review further serves to develop and nurture future leaders of the legal profession by creating opportunities for community engagement and education, as well as preparing members to become better lawyers, and make their own contributions to law.
Membership Requirements
We admit approximately fifteen percent of the students from the first-year class into the Law Review each year. Law Review staff are selected on the basis of a writing competition, grades, and a personal statement. Transfer students may complete the writing competition upon their acceptance to Boston University School of Law.
